The Eco Solutions & Management team has a wealth of experience in the ecological assessment of metalliferous and coal mining projects. This includes EIS assessments of several large scale greenfield projects and expansion projects at existing mining operations. We can assist with all aspects of mining project development including:

  • desktop constraints assessments
  • exploration assessments
  • regional ecosystem (RE) mapping verification
  • detailed terrestrial flora and fauna surveys
  • assessments of impacts under Queensland and Commonwealth legislation
  • vegetation, rehabilitation and fauna monitoring
  • assessments of offset liabilities and potential opportunities.

The team has recently worked to develop drone-based techniques for monitoring of riparian vegetation health for mine sites that can also be applied to rehabilitation monitoring and is exploring the use of environmental DNA for threatened species to complement traditional survey techniques to provide more efficient and effective species detection.
